About

My name is Bill. I’m 33 and a student pilot as of….today, October 10.

Richard Bach already covered the Transcendence of Flight in Jonathan Livingston Seagull and I see no need to re-invent his already beautifully-engineered wheel.

Besides, he’s a much better writer than I am.
However, there are few activities accessible to the general public which so readily combine fun, adventure and tremendous responsibility into one massively encompassing skillset.
And for me…it’s something more. That is, it’s not about transcendence - and I certainly don’t think boring a hole in the sky with a Cessna at 8,000 feet will show me the face of God.
But it is about changing the rules of the game previously defined as Bill. Indeed, it was a strange confluence of events - not the events themselves but the sequence and ways they transpired - which allowed me to do this anyway. In short, it was an improbable fluke.
She Who Is So Lovely, my much better looking half, actually coined the term. I cannot claim credit for it, but it’s apt nonetheless, in ways I don’t even think she knew.
I cannot guarantee any really worthy content, entertainment value, or other qualitative factor to get you to keep reading. And that’s okay. This isn’t for you, but you’re certainly welcome to follow along.
Maybe you’ll be inspired. Maybe you’ll decide to fly. And maybe…just maybe…I’ll end up as your instructor some day.
Stranger things have happened. Just look at the platypus.
